UPCOMING HMEPS TRUSTEE ELECTIONS – AN APPEAL TO VOTE FOR GEORGE BRAVENEC

As you may be aware, the Houston Municipal Employees Pension System (HMEPS) has scheduled election of Trustees for positions 5, 6 and 8. The ballots for the election will be mailed on or about August 2, 2010. Please make sure you pick up your ballot and exercise your responsibility to vote.

For the first time HMEPS participants will be able to cast their ballots by mail, telephone or the Internet. These details are all available to you in the latest issue of PENSION PRESS.

The purpose of this letter is to let you know that for position #8, the incumbent, George Bravenec is seeking a reelection as Trustee. George is currently the President of the Association of Retired Houston Municipal Employees (ARHME), an organization he has been associated with it as a charter member and a member of its steering committee and was instrumental for its creation in 2008. As members of ARHME’s Board of Directors, it is our ardent desire that he is re elected to the HMEPS.

George has a BBA degree from the University of Houston and has served on several boards and councils. He served the city of Houston in the department of Public Works and Engineering for over 35 years in various capacities until his retirement in 2004. He has been actively interested in the retirement benefits for the municipal employees ever since he retired which culminated in the creation of ARHME.

As Trustee of HMEPS, he worked diligently to ensure that our pension fund remains strong and safe and capable of providing the benefits for which we all worked so long and hard. Our pension fund has shown substantial improvement under the current leadership of the board. We need to make sure we continue to improve, and by keeping George as Trustee, we will do just that.

We trust you will cast your ballot for the election of Trustees and vote for George for position # 8. Thank you for your consideration.
